Furthermore, refreshing lakes and deep, steep-walled gorges characterize this region. The Berber tribes living in this mountain range subsist on agriculture. During the trip, you will see authentic houses as well as European-style homes. The Middle Atlas is also known as Little Switzerland.THE ANTI-ATLAS MOUNTAINSThe Anti-Atlas Mountains are one of Morocco’s mountain ranges in Northwestern Africa. The Anti-Atlas stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the southwest to the northeast near Ouarzazate, and east to the city of Tafilalt (a total distance of about 500 kilometers). To the south, the mountain range borders the Sahara Desert. The eastern end of the Anti-Atlas is formed by the Djebel saghro mountains. Near Ouarzazate, the mountain massif is cut through by the Draâ valley, which begins in the south. There are many boulders and the contrasts are stunning: water flows in the most remote places, creating clear pools. The few villages consist of just a handful of small houses, surrounded by palm trees.
